Training Curriculum for Roma Women
This Training Curriculum has been developed in response to the need to support the social and economic inclusion of Roma women through entrepreneurship, skills development and empowerment. It contributes to broader European priorities related to equality, inclusion, gender empowerment and sustainable development, while addressing the specific challenges faced by Roma women in accessing education, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
The programme is designed to provide participants with a combination of personal, entrepreneurial, digital and financial competences, in line with European competence frameworks. It recognises that many Roma women already possess valuable skills, knowledge and experiences and seeks to build on these assets by supporting their transition into entrepreneurial activity or community-based initiatives.
The curriculum adopts a holistic approach, integrating green, social and digital entrepreneurship. It reflects current European policy directions, including the promotion of sustainable business practices, the development of digital skills and the strengthening of social economy initiatives. In this context, entrepreneurship is not only understood as a way to generate income, but also as a tool for creating social value, supporting local communities and contributing to environmental sustainability.
The learning process is based on an experiential and participatory methodology, encouraging active engagement, peer learning and practical experimentation. Participants are guided step by step, from self-reflection and idea generation to basic business planning, digital visibility and sustainability considerations. Mentorship support is an essential component of the programme, ensuring that learning is adapted to individual needs and that participants receive continuous guidance throughout their entrepreneurial journey.
The Curriculum is aligned with key European frameworks, including EntreComp – the European Entrepreneurship Competence Framework, digital competence frameworks and sustainability competence approaches. Through this alignment, the programme supports the development of key competences such as initiative, creativity, planning and management, financial literacy, digital communication, social responsibility and sustainability awareness.
The overall aim of the training programme is to empower Roma women to develop sustainable, socially responsible and digitally supported entrepreneurial initiatives. By doing so, it contributes to strengthening their economic independence, enhancing their participation in the labour market and fostering inclusive and resilient local communities.
